Some concepts are so obvious we don’t need to be told about them. Recovery. We all need rest after a hard day. It just makes sense.

But how much rest does your body need, and if you do more does it need more rest? Different athletes recover in different ways. Serious athletes make time for recovery – it is an active process.

But sometimes tiredness can stop you training as much, or as often, as you would like to. Everyone’s need for rest is different, which can make it hard to balance your training with your recovery, especially if you have a busy lifestyle. But if you don’t allow your body to recover, each training session can be doing you damage.

If fatigue or unexplained weakness is slowing your training it might be because of a thyroid problem, a drug you are taking, or the sleep you are not getting. If you suffer from unexplained fatigue, a Sports Physician has been trained to investigate and treat why that might be, so you get the R&R you need.
